ORCHARD MESA GUN CLUB
RIM FIRE BENCH REST MATCH
July 1, 2017
The public and all Orchard Mesa Gun Club members and their families are invited to this fun match to be held at the Orchard Mesa Gun Club, 150 Browning Road on Saturday July 1, 2017 beginning at 8:30 AM. The match is open to adults and juniors. Shooters may share a rifle with a family member or friend and either shoot the match as a team or separately. Rules for the Match are as follows:
+only 22 Long Rifles are allowed, only 22 Long Rifle ammunition may be used , shooters provide their own ammunition
+any type of action is allowed, bolt semi-auto, lever, single shot
+shooting will be sitting at a bench with sandbags, bipods or rests allowed and rear bags as well, no single piece shooting
cradles are allowed
+any power scope is allowed
+magazines may be fully loaded
+spotting scopes are allowed
The match will consist of 50 shots for record with sighters. The target has 25 scoring targets and 3 sighting targets and there will be 2 targets fired by each individual or team at a distance of 50 yards with a 30 minute time limit for 25 shots and sighters. These targets are very small and only one shot will count on an individual target. Monetary prizes will be awarded to top scorers. Cost of the Match is $10.00 per individual or team. Shooters will be allowed to keep their targets after the Match.
Shooting benches will be provided, the firing line is covered, hearing protection is required for all participants. Family and friends may watch the Match. Pit toilets are available. Wind flags will be provided and no additional ones are allowed. No alcohol is allowed on OMGC property but shooters and guests may bring their own beverages and snacks.
Registration begins at 8:30 AM followed by setting up of the targets and wind flags. A short safety meeting will precede the start of the Match. All rifles will be kept in a safe manner with an empty chamber indicator inserted into the breach of the rifle until the command to fire is given. Empty chamber indicators will be provided to each shooter and WILL BE USED. Rifle racks will be available for storage of rifles when not in use. Unsafe handling of rifles will not be tolerated and may result in disqualification.
The Range is located just east of 32 Road also known as Colorado State Road 141 on Orchard Mesa. The gate will open prior to 8:30 AM and there is ample parking. It is hoped this Match will attract families and couples to shoot together and enjoy a day of fun and competition.

AXIS AND ALLIES BATTLE RIFLE MATCH

This rifle match is open to any safe, unaltered battle rifle: single shot, bolt action or semi-auto.
No:
-match sights
-aftermarket sights
-bedding enhancements
-non-military barrels
-tracer or armor piercing ammo
-free floated hand guards
-shooting coats or tight slings, military slings must be attached at front and rear or removed.
-AR-15s
-M1As (due to shooter request).
-spotting scopes during the match. They may be used during practice period.
Shooters May:
-use soft point, cast lead or military ball ammo.
-wear authentic battle dress and accessories if desired.
The spirit of the match is authentic battle rifles not NRA Match or Service Rifles.
Entry Fee:
The fee for the match is $10:00. Monetary prizes will be given for overall match winners and high axis and allied shooters.
Course of Fire: There will be a general sighting in period and practice of not more than 20 minutes, prior to the start of the match. The match will be fired at 200 yards using the NRA SR target which has a round black bull 13 inches in diameter. There will be three stages to the match.
Stage 1: 10 shots, slow fire, single loading in 10 minute.
Stage 2: 10 shots, rapid fire from a sitting or kneeling positions starting with a full magazine in 2 minutes.
Stage 3: 20 shots, slow fire, single load from the prone position in 20 minutes.
Scoring: Any shots hitting the black aiming bull will be scored as 1 point. Shots in the X ring will be noted and used to break ties.
The range will be open at 9:00 AM for target setup, followed be a short safety and shooters meeting. Practice will be followed by the match. Targets will then be taken down and a short awards ceremony will be held. It is anticipated we will be done by approximately 1:00 PM or sooner depending on the weather and the number of shooters. The firing line is covered and is cement. Shooters should bring something to lie on. The excess funds from the match will be used to support the OMGC High Power Matches.
