ORCHARD MESA GUN CLUB MEMBERS MEETING

December 19, 2023

CALL TO ORDER: The Meeting was called to order at 7:30 PM by the President, Jon Kobylarz. There were 9 members present. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited by all present.

MINUTES: The Minutes of the November 2023 Meeting were read by the Secretary and approved as read.

TREASURERS REPORT: The Treasurers Report was given by the Treasurer, it was moved, seconded, and passed to approve the Report. A copy is attached to and made a pard of these Minutes. There was then discussion on one of the Club’s CDs with American National Bank. Art Bennett noted that the very low interest on the existing CD could be more than offset by surrendering it and forfaiting the interest and purchasing a new CD at substantially higher interest. Following discussion it was moved, seconded, and passed to have Art Bennett, Treasurer and Jeff Howard, Secretary work with ANB to surrender the existing CD and roll the funds into a new, short term one at the best interest we can obtain.

CORESPONDENCE: The Club received our certificate from the NRS showing we are a 100% Club in good standing. The certificate is posted on the Club’s bulletin board.

COMMITTEE REPORT: The Rifle Competition Committee reports there were 19 shooters, an all-time high, at the December RF-BR 100 Match, and $60.00 was turned in to the Club.

OLD BUSINESS: Rich Dacher wanted to run for Vice President but does not meet the qualification of sustained active participation at the Club. He pointed out he was made a member of the Nominating Committee yet was not consulted about the nomination of Club Officers for 2024. The Club has received a copy of the Grand Valley Training Club’s Certificate of Liability Insurance Coverage. We have contacted Upland Gravel regarding dirt work on the new, 25-yard, pistol pits on the South Ranges but haven’t received a reply yet. The recently completed, reinforced shooting benches for the South Ranges still need to be moved to the South Ranges as soon as Eric Kjeldgaard’s tractor is available. Also there will be rifle racks placed on the Ranges. There was discussion about collaborating with School District 51 about having them build them with the Club supplying the materials. Rich Dacher volunteered to work on this.

NEW BUSINESS: The Nominating Committee reports the existing Club Officers: Jon Kobylarz, President, Eric Kjeldgaard, Vice President, Art Bennett, Treasurer, and Jeff Howard, Secretary have agreed to serve in the same offices for 2024. The current officers were then elected to serve in 2024 by acclamation. Rich Dacher addressed the Meeting about improving communication with the membership, promoting the Club, and recruiting new members. Various ideas were discussed, and it was agreed these were areas that need further attention. It was announced that the Annual Meeting of the Board of Directors will be held at the Club House on Tuesday January 9, 2024, at 7:00 PM. All Club Members are welcome to attend.

ADJOURNMENT: There being no further business to come before the members, the Meeting was adjourned at 8:40 PM by the President.

Respectfully submitted,

Jeff Howard, Secretary
